Demetrius Miller grew up in Flint, Michigan and is a 2009 graduate of Flint Central High School coached by Chris Chaffer. While there, Demetrius was a three-year letterwinner and was named first team all-conference and first team all-city as a junior and senior. During his Senior year, Demetrius was the team's leading scorer and was named Saginaw Valley Conference MVP, averaging 20.2 points, 7.1 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.6 steals. While in High School, he was also a multi-athlete, leterring in baseball, football, soccer, track and cross country.
Life after high school began with two seasons at Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan for Demetrius where he was coached by Steve Schmidt. He led MCC to a runner-up finish at the NJCAA national tournament with a 33-3 record as a sophomore averaging 11.3 points, 3.0 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals. His accolades at MCC include second team all-conference as a sophmore and was named to the all-defensive team as a freshman.
After Community College, Demetrius played in all 32 games with 28 starts at point guard to lead Metro State to the Elite Eight at the NCAA tournament . That season he led the team with 69 assists (2.2 per game), scored 381 points (11.9 per game), had 64 rebounds (2.0 per game), and 27 steals. He was named second team all-RMAC after leading Metro State to the national title game and the RMAC regular season and tournament championships where he averaged 13.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals.
